XAMPP is a set of web development tools, including the web server installation Apache, the database system MySQL and the programming languages PHP and Perl.

This toolkit is installed all in one go, thereby saving time in downloading and installing each of the components separately.

The package comes with other tools like phpMyAdmin, OpenSSL or Webalizer. All these tools are free to use and open source, so you benefit in both safety and costs.

It can be used both for individual use and for installation on web servers, and you can use it to test locally those web applications using the same tools on your servers.
